Born and raised in Nelson, British Columbia, Zac grew up as a small town boy. As a child, he was a bit of a recluse, keeping to his books and computers (in a strange way preparing him for a completely unrelated and unforeseen business venture). When his family moved to Vancouver in his early teens, a whole new world was opened to him. The big city captured his imagination and after a childhood of relative solitude, the crowds of people held his attention.

A twist of fate landed Zac in the restaurant & bar industry and to his surprise, he loved it. Prior to that, he had never found beer to taste all that good but after an especially long, hot, summer night shift of tending bar, Zac poured himself a pint of liquid gold and was thoroughly satiated; to this day his favourite beer is the first one after work.

The years passed and his love of beer grew. He worked various positions in different restaurants and bars over the following years and while managing a downtown lounge met a good friend and his future business partner, Gabriel Jones. A couple of years later, they found themselves working together again at the Dockside Brewing Company and together, served thousands of travelers tens of thousands of pints and helped them plan where to find their next great beers. Inspiration was found at the bottom of after work pints and over the next few months, a plan was made. They were writing a book about passion, a book about adventure, a book about beer.

Since then, Zac’s early years as a bit of a geek have come in handy. He has taught himself many new tricks on his computer and now handles the layout of the book and the more “technical” side of the business leaving the more of the public relations to his charismatic and talkative best friend.
